You copy some text from a website. You paste it into a document. And then… the formatting is a mess.
Weird fonts.
Inconsistent sizes.
Random colors coming out of nowhere.
If this happens to you often, here’s the shortcut that will save you.
CTRL + Shift + V: paste without formatting
This shortcut pastes only the text: no styles, no fonts, no original colors.
In short: just the content.
Why it’s actually useful
When you copy and paste something, you want it to work, not spend five minutes fixing the layout.
Pasting without formatting is also much faster than digging through a menu for the option when you’re already swamped.
Most importantly, it quickly becomes a habit and works just as well in Word, emails, presentations, or pretty much any tool used in your organization.
It’s a small, simple shortcut, but one that removes a lot of daily friction.
The shortcut to remember
Windows: CTRL + Shift + V
Mac: CMD + Shift + V
(Yes, it exists on Mac too!)
Once the habit sticks, CTRL + V may start to feel risky. And you’ll instinctively prefer pasting without formatting. 😉
